Prof. Birgit Weller and Burkhard Lingenberg hand the German Packaging Award to Johann Beil (centre), head of LINHARDT’s R&D division. The Multiflex tube™ has won the German Packaging Award. Thus, LINHARDT successfully participated in the contest for the best packagings in Germany for the seventh time. There is a lot of cheering in LINHARDT’s R&D departments in Viechtach and Hambrücken. Of the almost 300 submissions, 40 competition entries were nominated and 20 of them were awarded with prizes. On 28 September 2009, the ceremonial bestowal of the 32nd German Packaging Award took place within the context of the "FachPack+PrintPack+LogIntern" fair in Nuremberg. This year, the German Institute of Packaging (dvi) awarded prizes in seven categories to 20 new developments from 18 companies as well as to 2 projects presented by students. Functional and innovative concepts were distinguished which advance the packaging industry in economic, technical, aesthetical and ecological regards.
A "German Open" LINHARDT’s winning contribution was the Multiflex tube™ in the category "sales packagings". The jurors ascertained: "For the first time it worked out to weld a plastic laminate tube in a blunt fashion instead of in an overlapping one. In doing so, a symmetrical material composition with a weldable material on the inside and outside is no longer necessary. This allows new possibilities in the layer sequence. The covered weld seam is less conspicuous and hardly disturbs the print layout any longer." The packaging contest is international – as a "German Open" competition it is accessible for participants from all over the world. The patron is the Federal Minister for Economy and Technology, Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg. With the packaging award on a national level, LINHARDT has now qualified for the participation in the "World Star" competition.
