LINHARDT is thinking into the future...
To gauge the importance of environmental conservation at LINHARDT, here’s a look at our past: For almost two decades we have had an Environmental Representative who is directly answerable to the management. This is where all the strands of environmental conservation come together. And this is where ideas for future conservation are born—together with the specialist department managers. At the Hambruecken factory we are considering building a combined heat and power plant running on fermented gases, to replace natural gas, our current provider. An energy balance calculation is planned for every production line in the future, to show precisely where and how much energy is being used and where it could be reduced.
...for people and the planet
In another department in our company, we are currently running tests with organic plastics based on corn as a raw material. But even when using renewable materials in large quantities, we will need to carry out detailed studies of the balance of energy and environment throughout the material’s life cycle. Still unknown are the social effects of large-scale mass production of organic material competing with food production.
"LINHARDT stands for environmental conservation that is intelligent, and above all, sustainable. We’re open to using new, environmentally friendly materials, but we won’t neglect the sophisticated analysis of the entire ecological balance of our working materials."

Another approach is to switch to powder-based coatings only in the aluminium department, which would avoid the use of solvents. The same is true for cleaning solutions—like the complex cleaning procedure for our systems when we change the colours used between two production runs. In the future we can use special granulate cleaners to further reduce the use of solvents. In this way, LINHARDT wants to fulfill the goal we have set for ourselves: sensible and effective environmental conservation is LINHARDT’s model for the future—for customers, employees, and everyone at the factories.
